1. Blogs generate more traffic to your website
Having a business blog means your website visitors know there will be new content on your website which gives them a reason to return to your website. Provided you have good blog software, your blog post will also be published on search engines which means interested readers will come to your website based on your blog post.
2. Grab the attention of your customers and search engines
The more you blog the more readers you’ll have. Search engines will also become more interested which means they will come to your website more often and publish any new content on your website. E.g. say you have a retail store and your website (without a blog) gets updated once every 3 months. From a search engine perspective they aren’t going to visit your website very often as they know your content doesn’t change frequently. So say you decide to have a big winter sale and add a new page about the sale to your website. It may take weeks or even months before your sale page is published on a search engine. Your sale may be over by then and potential customers would not have found your sale through their searches. However if you have a blog you can post some information about your sale, provide a link to the sale page and you can expect your sale page to be published within days.
3. Give your potential customers a better insight to your products/services
A business website on its own is rather one dimensional. Adding a blog gives an opportunity to share more depth about your business to your visitors. For instance if you’re a technology company and have rather technical formal content on your website. A blog can give your website more life since you can post a more personal insight into technical features as well as customer feedback, industry events etc. This gives your potential customers a more rounded view of your products which in turn builds trust and credibility. This is especially important if you have potential customers outside your region or overseas since they can only judge you by the information provided on your website.
